Animal Farm Art Show
My art was shown in a gallery for the second time this year!
This time, I was part of Basecamp Studios’ “Animal Farm” art show in Seattle. I had just finished a new piece called "Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing", and while I was working on it, I actually had George Orwell’s Animal Farm in mind. A few weeks later, I saw a call for submissions for a show with that exact theme. I submitted my piece… and it got accepted!
I had art hanging at City Hall and Downtown Seattle at the same time! I sat down one day and looked for places to submit my art, I found these two opportunities and I got accepted to both! It’s been fun and it really showed me that I need to keep putting my work out there. Thank you BaseCamp Studios for this experience! I hope my art brings me around to more places.
This was my first time having my art shown in Seattle. It was so cool to have my art hanging in a gallery just down the street from Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. I visited the gallery during the Belltown art walk, I got to see so many other galleries and so much art; and it was awesome that my art was a part of this event. I went to the art walk and admired my painting as well as all the other art with my mom and Derek. We also visited a “doodle both” where someone doodles you like it’s a photo booth! It was a perfect, artsy kind of night, and I left feeling more motivated than ever to keep creating!
My painting, Wolf in Sheeps Clothing, is a “sheep” but it’s true form can’t be contained. The wolf. His sheep disguise is starting to glitch away because you can’t hide your true intentions forever. Trying to pass as a soft blue sheep, the wolf’s teeth are exposed the vibrant red and purple squares, showing its true violent nature. I made this piece with gouache paint and wax pastel on a mixed media paper.
Having two of my paintings hanging in such cool spots at the same time really got me excited about art. I will continue to create and look for opportunities for my art to be seen!
